Bhutan Cultural Tour takes you to the main cities of Bhutan where you can observe the lifestyle and culture of the Bhutanese people. You get to visit the Dzongs that are the ancient home of the royal families. You can experience the way people live there and learn about the history of the Buddhist nation. You also get to witness the wonderful artifacts of Bhutanese typical culture and many historical places.
The Bhutan Cultural Tour by Himalaya Land Treks starts with a flight to Paro from Kathmandu. Then, you’ll drive to Thimpu. You sightsee the whole valley in a day and visit many monasteries and Dzongs like the Simtokha Dzong and the Pangri Zampa Monastery. Next day, you drive from Thimpu to Trongsa followed by an exploration of Trongsa the next day.
Likewise, you visit the Trongsa Dzong and other Tibetan monasteries in Trongsa. Further, you'll drive to Bumthang and spend the next day for traversing the valley. You get to visit Jakar Dzong, Meber Tsho and some other places in Bumthang. You return to Punakha after sightseeing and then head to Paro to attend the return flight to Kathmandu.
The whole tour gives you knowledge about the small Buddhist country and its culture and history. The best season for this tour is autumn and spring as the weather is nice and the temperature is favorable. Winter is also a good season for the tour; however, rainfall in the monsoon season can disrupt the tour.

In the first day, you’ll take a scenic flight of Himalayas to Paro Airport, Bhutan from Kathmandu. After you land, you can visit the area around Paro including Ta Dzong museum that holds Bhutan’s history and culture. You can also visit the oldest temple in the country, Kichu Lhakhang. Then, you will drive to Thimpu from Paro. Thimpu is the capital of Bhutan and is filled with many places you can visit.
This day, you'll explore the capital of Bhutan and enjoy full day sightseeing. You start with visiting the National textile museum, folk heritage museum and school of traditional arts and crafts. Next, you’ll visit Pangri Zampa Monastery, Dechen Chholing Palace, Memorial Chorten, and the zoo. You can also visit the radio tower which gives you a great view of Thimpu valley. Also, you can visit the National Institute of Traditional medicine, traditional paper factory, majestic Tashichho Dzong and Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress in the Kingdom.
Further, you head to Trongsa from Thimpu that lies east of Thimpu. You drive through the Thimpu-Punakha highway and Bumthang to reach Trongsa city. You reach Dochu La pass (3050 m) and then drive to Wangdue before reaching Punakha. Passing Wangdue, you’ll reach Black mountain National park and drive towards Pele La pass (3420 m). Then, the road descends and passes Rukubji, Sephu and many other villages with a magnificent view of Mangde Chu gorge and finally, you stop at Trongsa.
Trongsa lies in the center of Bhutan and it is a junction road to get to many other cities in Bhutan. There is a small Dzong in Trongsa you can visit and many shops too. There is Centennial National Park in the North and Jigme National Park in the central and southern part of Trongsa that you can visit. There is a watchtower called Ta Dzong where you can go and see the view of Trongsa valley.
Next day, you drive to Bumthang from Trongsa. The drive is about 2 hours and you will stop at Jakar city in Bumthang. Firstly, you’ll ascend to Yotong La pass and then descend towards Chumey valley. You’ll drive through Zugney and Prakar villages and reach Kiki La pass. Then after a short drive, you’ll reach Jakar city.
You’ll explore Bumthang in the early morning. You can visit Tamshing monastery which is one of the oldest monastic schools in the valley. You can also visit Mebar Tsho, known as burning lake that holds religious significance to the people of Bhutan. Other places you can visit are Kurje Lhakhang and Jambey Lhakhang. Then, you’ll drive back to Punakha via Wangdue, leaving Bumthang. You’ll pass Pele La pass and Youtong La pass on the way to Punakha.
You’ll drive to Paro airport at the beginning and then take a scenic flight to Kathmandu, Nepal. You get nice views of the world's tallest mountains including the Mt. Everest. Once you land in Kathmandu, you’ll be transferred to our hotel and you’ll have a farewell dinner hosted by the Himalaya Land Treks. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.
