COVID-19 new variant 2021: Risk, Symptoms and Precautions !

Just after a year of the first wave, the second wave made its outburst with even more strength of infecting. Viruses own the potential to get mutated with an increase in their spread. This potential of the virus to change itself genetically gives rise to the new variant. As a result, the mutated strain began a second wave. COVID-19 came back with more strength of infection and affecting more severely.

Many countries from south Asia and Europe are highly affected by new variant of COVID-19. The data is still unclear up to where the second wave has reached. Each day the rate of infection is moving up in exponential form. Attenuating log phase of the rate of infection the virus is challenging with death rate too.

Age group affected by a new variant

The mutated variant is different from the first wave. The first wave was infectious to ill, old aged or people with low immune capability. But the new mutated variant of COVID-19 came up affecting young youths more. People between the ages of 20-44 are affected more by the second wave.

Risk and infecting mechanism of mutated COVID-19 variant

The new variant has come up with mutation in the spike protein of SARS-COVID-2. This SARS-CoV-2 is the same virus that causes COVID-19. The coronavirus takes its way into human cells using the spike proteins, which clasps on the human cell and inserts inside the cell through the various nasopharyngeal cavity.

This virus uses its spike protein to anchor to the receptor protein on the human cells and infects them. After inserting inside the cell it starts to divide rapidly increasing its number. The lungs cells are more affected by the virus which is causing a lack of oxygen in the body. The second wave has shown to damage both lungs and heart.

    Symptoms of new COVID-19 variant

The mutated variant shows the following symptoms after infection:

    • High fever
    • Cough
    • Common cold
    • Loss in sense of smell and taste
    • Chest pain
    • Respiratory complications
    • Shortness of breath
    • Weakness of body

These are some symptoms of the Corona virus. If you are experiencing these symptoms then take yourself to a nearby hospital or health post to make your COVID test.

Prevention is better than cure! In this hard time, there is no other precaution than prevention. If you are experiencing the symptoms of COVID-19 or if you are not infected please follow some home-based guidelines to prevent the virus.

    Home isolation

If you are experiencing the symptoms of Corona Virus then without delay please keep yourself in an isolation. Staying in an isolation will not let your symptoms transfer to others. This will help in minimizing the infection rate.

    Maintain physical distancing

Please stay in quarantine for some period until the situation comes up a bit fine. If it is an emergency for you to go out take some of the following things into consideration:

    Maintain good Hygiene

Good hygiene is very much necessary during this period of a pandemic. Following the following protocol to maintain proper hygiene:

    • Exercise regularly.
    • Perform yoga and meditation. This will help to boost up your immunity.

    Follow proper diet

A proper diet is what we all need for our healthy living. Everything that we eat is either defeating the viruses or bacteria’s or feeding it. So please be careful about what are you feeding on. Follow the following points to improve your diet:

    • Drink more water
    • Put away junks

    • Take less fat and sugar
    • Eat beans; this will boost up your immune system

    Risk management

This new variant has shown to cause a lack of oxygen and shortness of breathing. To reduce this loss of oxygen in the body, take some home remedy that has been followed from very ancient period.

Take a glass of lukewarm water and mix a spoon of honey in it. Drink this soft mixture of honey and lukewarm water every morning. This will help to increase the level of oxygen in your body.

The fear of COVID has increased more than the rate of infection. The risk of infection and death might or might not end up. But what we can do is prevent. Following a proper way of prevention is the only way to manage the virus infection.

Hence, it is time to use wisdom overpower. Nothing is greater than nature and no one can go beyond nature. So, it is a humble request to every human to stay safe and follow the precautions to prevent viruses until the situation clams down.
